SACBA Week 1 Game Times and Preview

The A's, B's, C's and Lady Reds are set to play their ball at the Powerhouse this season - the site of Palky going 2 of 25, 3 of 25 and 2 of 25 in the Old Reds 3 Point Contest held last year (sigh). However, for five weeks in the season they will play games at an alternate stadium - Westminster and Saints. This week those grades will be at Westminster. Directions to Westminster. The D's, E's, F's and G's are at Cedar College all season. Directions to Cedar - go up Navigator Drive and park in the back car park ... the front one is not open.

I will be contacting you all shortly to ask if you can play this week. After this week it will be the responsibility of your Captain/Team Manager to follow up with you. On game day, it is the role of the Captain/Team Manager to get a team together, fill in the scoresheet, find a scorer, collect and store the votes after the game and take a photo of the scoresheet and email it to me. The Captain's role is to be Coach and call the subs etc. If you don't know who will assume that role on game day, you will need to sort it out.

Uniforms - the E's will be wearing the white alternates this season. We will have uniforms for Orks, Thommo, Phil Walker and the young guys in the G's (Reid, Sam, Will, James and Jacky). You can get the uniform at training or it will be waiting for you at your game.

A's v Gateway - Gateway are always strong - they have good shooters and have the leagues most experienced and best big man. They beat the A's in the last game of the season last year in an absolute classic.
B's v Brighton - Brighton are wily with a number of veterans who can all play. Will be a physical match up. The B's beat them both times last year but it took to the last 5 minutes to get on top.
C's v The Corner A - A team down from A Grade - they have 2 solid bigs, a super quick PG and they love to shoot. Tough test first up.
D's v Taperoo - This will be a slugfest like always against Taperoo. They love to slow it down and play physical.
E's v Knightsbridge B - An interesting matchup first up. Young kids who will shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot and shoot. They are one of the oddest teams I have ever seen with an unorthodox style. The E's will need to get out to the shots and crash the boards.
F's v Golden Grove - Golden Grove have won the last few years - they have a solid big guy, a mega hustle guy, a couple of shooters and a crafty scorer.
G v Spicer - Spicer were one of the weaker teams last year - they are young and a years experience will help them.
Lady Reds v Adelaide - Last years champs, they are well drilled, can all shoot, they run the break well. The Lady Reds will need to limit their mistakes and play hard.
