Memo to all Club Secretaries
After much discussion and deliberation this week the
following decision has been made for the good of 'Church Basketball'
"In view of recent events that affect our brand of
Basketball, effective immediately our Umpires-in-Charge are authorised by the
Association to address the 2 coaches, 2 captains and the 2 officials at the
commencement of every game and advise them of the following:
- We are losing umpires
because of the actions of a few players - this is unacceptable.
- We will not tolerate
behind-the-play, off-the-ball, physical holdiing or intimidation of
another player, nor will we tolerate behind-the-back trash talking and
baiting offences.
- Should the Umpire-in-Charge
observe any of these offences, they are directed by the Association to
step onto the court and make an Unsportsmanlike or Technical foul call as
applicable.
- While this action is not
covered in the FIBA rules, the Association warrants this action necessary.
- The co-operation of
everyone is requested so that all games are played within the spirit of
the rules and more importantly the spirit of Church Basketball"
