2013 Intercol Wrap-Up

C's Intercol

The game started a bit scrappy with Saints jumping out to an early lead.

The C's were in their man-to man D with Manners "targeting" (see; playing defence on) Jimmy.

Madman made a couple of jumpers and Phill scored inside to give the Reds the early lead 7-6.

BB scored on the break with his patented BB floater.

Sime came off the bench and gave the Reds some great energy. He scored on a lay-up (that the video camera man unfortunately missed).

Manners was hustling up a storm - he got a great steal from behind and jumped on this loose ball.

Reds up 14-10 at halftime. Praise the Lord!

The second half was a free throw fest (not an exciting photo board this does make). The boys went 11 of 18 from the line for the game - Phill went 4 of 4 and Sime 2 of 2 in the 2nd half.

G didn't have a great shooting night but made a couple of layups (no photo evidence but let's pretend it was after this photo was taken).

 The Reds ground out the win 33-26 - they played tough D. Saints played typical Saints ... they are the most frustrating team to play against ... and not in the complimentary way. This is the most Madman will smile in a photo.

B's Intercol

Like the C's - the B's started slow with Palk, Billy and Mike all missing 3's. Palky did land one 3 early to get the scoring underway. His last meaningful contribution for 35 minutes.

Mike scored on a nice drive (no photo), scored inside (no photo) and hit a reverse (no photo) but here is a photo of him shooting a 3. His hair looks amazing. Hey look ... Palky is open!

Davey was dominating inside - he got an early tip in and was making himself available down low.

Mitch came off the bench with great energy ... he hit a short jumper and scored when he pushed it on the break. Reds up 21-13 at halftime. #7 McMillian hit a few jumpers for Saints and looked pretty decent.

In the 2nd half, Saints got the score back to 21-19 - Billy hit a 3 to extend the lead back in the B's favour.

The Reds tightened their D with the little known "wave you hands in the air like you just don't care" defence. Mitch hit Mike inside for 2 after the B's passed the ball around 10 times in the best passage of play for the night (Billy and Palk both on the bench). Mike hit a short jumper, Lachy hit a couple of FTs and Billy iced the game with a baseline j to finally kill off a resilient Saints.

Palky hit a late 3 after going 1 of 9 before that ... he celebrated ... I'm sure Manners was annoyed! Kieran for Saints is fist-pumping.

Reds won 41-28. Purge did an amazing job coaching the team making all the right calls.

Great win boys - the B's 5th in a row. Huge thanks to Billy, Jay, Mitch and Big A for filling in for the B's.

 A's Intercol

 The A's were ready to play this week after a tough game on the weekend. The A's were taking a lot of early 3's that weren't connecting. Phil got hot - with a short 2 off the dribble and a couple of 3's.

He's OPEEENNN!!!!!

Foo came off the bench and got a great lay-up on the break.

The A's were playing tough D with only Hautop for Saints able to get anything ... he got a lot. Liam got a late tip in to tie it at 17 at half time.

The 2nd half the Reds got out to a 6 point lead when Hobbs hit a 3 and Tauny came off the bench and hit a 3. Tauny had another one roll in and out ... total heartbreaker. In the end - Saints clawed back with Scammell hitting a 3 and getting an easy layup and Charles and Hautop getting inside time and time again. Reds battled but just couldn't get over the line.

Reds lost 36-41 in a valiant effort. Sorry - not heaps of photos in this one.

As always a great night - we won the night 2-1. Bill thinks they won the night because they won the A's.

Sime made these points below:

* Lunny who scored C’s game, Stu scoring B’s, Lenny for A’s
* James Townsend and Rough J for filming the C’s game, I did B’s & A’s (& we borrowed Toddy’s tripod)
* Megan for taking photos
* Special mentions to Purge for coaching
* Palky for fixing the scoreboard
* Thanks G for making Palky’s 3PT % look awesome?
* Well done to Hendo for having the world’s smallest drink bottle (the only one he could find was his kid’s, must have been 150ml at best, had to keep getting it topped up)

Well done lads ... now our focus shifts to making the finals.
